Jett & Kathryn Britnell are professional underwater, wildlife and expedition photographers, internationally published writers, explorers, speakers, scuba divers, shark advocates, book reviewers, marine conservationists and devil may care adventurers.

Our publishing credits include, The Globe & Mail, British Columbia Magazine, Canadian Geographic, Matador Network, Photo Comment, Alert Diver, Diver Magazine, Scuba & H2O Adventure, Sport Diver, Travel Thru History and numerous other outlets. Jett’s photography has graced the covers of magazines over 57 times. Along with travel writing, we have been speakers at trade shows and have presented on such topics as exploration, conservation, destinations, photography seminars and workshops. Through thier photography, travel, marine and wildlife conservation work they have amassed more than 32,000+ combined social media followers over Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Linkedin.

Jett Britnell

Jett Britnell, FRCGS, FRGS, FI’16

Jett Britnell is a professional Underwater, Wildlife & Expedition Photographer, Explorer, internationally published Writer, Public Speaker and Scuba Diver whose images and editorial appears regularly in various print publications and online media worldwide.  A staunch supporter of marine conservation and environmental education, he was among the first in the British Columbia to expound the need for preservation of the province’s marine life through his images, articles and presentations. Jett is credited for putting British Columbia’s undersea realm on the world stage, and has contributed to the province’s marine environment being ranked as one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems in the world.

A Fellow of the prestigious Royal Canadian Geographical Society, a Fellow of the in the world renowned and exclusive Explorers Club, a Fellow of the famed Royal Geographical Society in London. Jett is also a member of the esteemed Ocean Artists Society, a unique alliance of the world’s top marine life artists, painters, sculptors, photographers, filmmakers, and writers. The list of members includes people such as Wyland, Bob Talbot, Ron & Valerie Taylor and Dr. Sylvia Earle. He co-authors with Kathryn a monthly adventure & exploration column for Luxe Beat Magazine under the banner Third Age Expeditions, and is a featured photographer of The Ocean Agency, an ocean conservation non-profit, and also a consultant to Elephanatics, an elephant advocacy organization based in Vancouver whose mission is to assist global elephant conservation efforts by educating Canadians about issues of ivory poaching, habitat loss, and the continued exploitation of elephants by humans, and to connect Canadians directly with elephant conservation partners in Africa and Asia. He is also a Nikon Professional Services Member and a nationally accredited past member of the Professional Photographers of Canada (Underwater, Editorial & Travel Illustration), Professional Writers of Canada, the British Columbia Association of Travel Writers and the International Food Wine and Travel Writers Association.

  • Transport Canada Pleasure Craft Operator Card (familiar with operating Zodiacs)
  • Canadian Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) for both Restricted & Unrestricted Firearms.

Kathryn Britnell

Kathryn Britnell, FRCGS, FRGS, FI’19

Kathryn is a Fellow of the prestigious Royal Canadian Geographical Society, a Fellow of the the world renowned and exclusive Explorers Club, a Fellow of the famed Royal Geographical Society in London. Kathyrn is an internationally published writer, photographer, speaker and underwater model. Among her many talents, Kathryn possesses decades of experience with respect to insurance and risk management, including the expertise to manage the risk exposures on expeditions, eco-tourism businesses and ocean-based operations. The first published photo of her working as an underwater model appeared December 22, 2010 in PhotographyBB Magazine. Certainly a notable achievement as she was only certified as a scuba diver three weeks earlier in the Philippines on November 30, 2010! Kathryn has experienced exhilarating encounters with tiger sharks, whale sharks, sea turtles, sea lions, and several species of venomous lionfish in the Philippines, splashing into zero degree centigrade iceberg infested waters in Alaska and has explored the ocean’s depths after dark. Kathryn is a former member of the British Columbia Association of Travel Writers and the International Food Wine and Travel Writers Association.
